Visiting 3ake and have a chance to sample some great cocktails paired with some fresh sushi was a great experience. Not only the food was great, but the staff were nice and friendly and made the experience super pleasant. Three things stood out to me, and I would highlight them separately: *The ambience *The drinks *The food When it came to the ambience, we were quite lucky to sit at the bar. That made our experience a lot more enjoyable and more private. So, I'd recommend you go for it, if possible. The bartenders would be more than happy to recommend you great food and drink pairing. As this is what we did, it was a great choice to do that! When you do look at the drink menu, you can find the classics that you would expect, but you can also find some interesting cocktails. In fact, I had a Miso Old-Fashioned, which was something unexpected! When you see "miso" you expect to have that salty flavour, but that was not what happened. The drink was well balanced and highlighted the taste of the Maker's mark. At the same time, my partner had a Yuzu negroni. It was quite "boozy", but the yuzu foam did round it up quite well. The food, ah that sushi was "to die for". In total, we had some sashimi, a round of fresh gyoza, a salmon lover sushi platter and the Chef's daily special dessert. The sashimi came on a nice bow, looking great and as expected was as fresh as possible. We had some Mackerel and Yellowtail tuna, which were a new experience for me, but are worth checking out. The tuna was nice and creamy, where the Mackerel was interesting and had a bit of 'smokey flavour. The gyoza and the sushi platter came at the same time and were a great combination. The gyoza was nice, crispy and had a creamy prawn filling that played well with the crispiness of the shells. The sushi platter was a meal by itself. There were a few different types of sushi, which spotlight and celebrated the beautiful taste of salmon. Hands down, the salmon nests is what I enjoyed the most and would like to order again. To finish this magical experience, we ordered the Chef's daily special dessert. They brought to use a beautiful Passionfruit mouse which paired surprisingly well with the Hakushu (special edition) whiskey which was recommended to me. It was light, not too sweet, not too tart (from the passion fruit), but just properly balanced. Overall, 3ake is a place I will for sure visit again. It has an amazing ambience, great drinks and outstanding food. Plus, they have hinted at the intent to push further with their experimental cocktails and use some interesting techniques to age them.
