Daddy Bao will no doubt be a well know name to South Londoners, with their fluffy bao buns and Taiwanese flavours being a staple of the Tooting (and Peckham, with sister restaurant Mr Bao) foodie scene. During lockdown they've not only set up delivery of their full restaurant menu they've also crafted a range of delicious frozen dumplings which are ready to cook from the freezer in just 8 minutes, meaning you can recreate that Chinese restaurant experience from home with minimal effort - perfect for a weeknight feast. We tried the prawn and vegetable dumplings and can attest that they were not only packed full of flavour but were crammed full of delicious fillings. Sometimes veggie dumplings can be a little lacking in flavour, not so with Daddy Bao's, which will make every vegetarian's heart leap to know they've not been an afterthought in the flavour stakes. These were just as good as the prawn dumplings, which were all prawn and no filler; perfect for seafood lovers. We steamed our dumplings and then pan fried them to crisp the outsides which really let the delectable flavours shine through. Delivered alongside our dumplings were a range of tasty sauces, including spicy sriracha for drizzling and chilli sauce which is perfect for dunking your dumplings into. Daddy Bao also make pork and chicken dumplings too, so there's something for everyone. Packs come in 20 and 40 dumplings so if you're feeding lots of hungry mouths be sure to buy a big pack so you're not left fighting over the last one! These delicious dumplings will be a staple in our freezer from now on, they make a moorish snack or quick lunch in between Zoom meetings and are fantastic value too compared to the usual dim sum you find in London. Nice work Daddy Bao!
