Gourmet Popcorn Flavours!

If you had asked me to name some popcorn flavours before this review, I would have said salty, sweet and sweet’n’salty. Thank goodness that the 2 cousins who founded Popcorn Shed in their garden shed have more imagination than me! They have a wide range of gourmet flavours that will spice up snack time and movie nights, like Birthday Cake, Pecan Pie and Goat’s Cheese! The brightly coloured packaging for the 3 larger Sheds and 7 Snack Pack Original Flavour Bundle that I received is fab and really lifts your spirits. The Shed boxes look great with windows, doors and different coloured roofs. The Rainbow Shed was especially eye-catching with multi-coloured popcorn showing through the window. I’m more of a savoury than sweet person, so I started off with the trio of cheese-flavoured popcorn. What a revelation! The Say Cheese! mature cheddar cheese had a lovely creamy textured coating and an extremely moreish cheesy flavour. The Blue Cheese really did taste like a mild blue cheese, more earthy and savoury than the Say Cheese. Finally the Sweet Cheesus (love the name!) was a fantastic take on sweet’n’salty, with a mixture of caramel and cheddar cheese kernels. You didn’t know what you were going to get - great fun! Although I enjoyed all the sweet flavours, there were some definite standouts for me. The Butterscotch (which is vegan!) was a fave - sweet but not oversweet and balanced with a touch of salt. The Berry-licious was a winning combo of dark chocolate and raspberry. I’ve tried this in chocolate bars before, but the added hint of caramel made this flavour irresistible. Finally, the Rainbow vanilla caramel popcorn both looks and tastes great. I thought the bright colours might mean it was sickly sweet, but it was just the right amount of sweetness. It was a real treat exploring this range of gourmet snacks. What really impressed me is the care and thought that has gone into capturing the flavours. The Butterly Nuts smells just like peanut butter, contains real peanut pieces and tastes buttery. The Pop ’n' Choc uses real Belgian chocolate for a more luxurious taste. Popcorn Shed's range can now be found in the likes of John Lewis, Selfridges, the Co-op and Amazon. I’m keen to try out their vegan Mini Pop! range which has exclusive flavours like White Truffle, Toffee, and Maple Bacon. Happy snacking times ahead! Instagram: @popcornshed
