The Waterway is the perfect place to sip a cold drink and soak up the sun on a summer afternoon – so imagine our surprise when we turned up in December to find the garden had been transformed into a magical wonderland filled with twinkling lights and a cute little igloo. We enjoyed the perfect Christmas dinner date complete with bubbly and festive tunes.

The food was excellent – we went for the traditional lamb shank with dauphinois potatoes and veggies and a slightly less traditional Christmas dinner of buttery lobster, cooked to perfection. Being inside the igloo was the cosiest, most romantic experience and one we’re unlikely to forget thanks to The Waterway’s lovely staff. Indeed it was the most romantic Christmas dinner I’ve ever had ✨ The igloo at the Waterway was an absolute dream ❄️ More Info below: Since 2002 The Waterway has established itself as one of Maida Vale’s best local restaurants and one of London’s greatest outdoor terraces with spectacular views overlooking the beautiful Grand Union Canal. Voted as the best terrace in London, this is the closest to Venice London has. They have a large terrace outside in the summer and a cosy inside for the winter that feels like a ski chalet, complete with fireplace, live music and a superb menu all year round. The restaurant and bar area can be split up for all types of events whether it’s a small business lunch or full-blown cocktail party.
