What do you usually have for breakfast? On a normal working day, I like to have something filling but nutritious, so a Greek yoghurt with a variety of berries have become my go-to breakfast item over the last few years. So when the opportunity came up to make my own Greek and skyr yoghurt at home, I didn’t think twice.
I love yoghurt and was keen to find out more about skyr yoghurt as well, which has added health benefits like super high Protein as well as vitamins and minerals.
Freshly Fermented sent a yoghurt maker with an organic skyr yoghurt starter kit. The Yoghurt maker can make up to 1.2 litres of Greek yoghurt, has a straining device and generally everything you need to make it extremely easy for you to make thick, delicious skyr and Greek yoghurt. All you need is a little bit of time to let things ferment and then cool down in the fridge.
This is a fabulous yoghurt maker and if you are – like me – having yoghurt for breakfast and adding yoghurt to different dishes, it’s a perfect little device. Easy to make with no fuss, also really easy to clean and let’s not forget – it’ll save you from throwing away those big supermarket yoghurt pots and is therefore a greener way to have yoghurt. The yoghurt I made was thick and tangy and went perfectly with my selection of berries and nuts.
The compact size and simplicity makes this yoghurt maker a wonderful addition to the kitchen! I see from their website that Freshly Fermented have a number of offers on their fermented foods and a huge selection of organic and vegan cultures and I’ll definitely be checking out some others.
They say immunity starts in the gut and yoghurt is packed with probiotics which keep your gut happy.
