Eatoo: make your dinner at home of restaurant quality

In this unprecedented times when we are forced to spend so much time at home, finding a place that can inspire us with new dishes to prepare and pamper us with fresh ingredients is a bliss. With our £50 budget to test Eatoo products, after we landed on their page we were presented exactly with this. Aside from a range of various products, Eatoo mainly provides ingredients for 4 different dishes: barbecue, Budae Jigae, hotpot and Sukiyaki. The real fun is that you can buy or rent from them a portable Pot & Induction Cooker and try those dishes even in your small apartment with no garden. Unfortunately - thank you, Covid - at the moment for safety reasons the cookers weren’t available, so we decided to build our own dinner with a selection of products. But that didn’t diminish our beautiful experience, as you will see if you keep reading.

At first, there was a tiny bit of disappointment because the delivery fee is quite high, ranging from £4 to £8 if you live more than 4 miles away from the centre. But then, once we have received the goods, we understood why and all made perfect sense. I have literally never seen in my life such a good care in wrapping and protecting the products of delivery, and all in a very tidy and caring way. There were some surprising, lovely touches that didn’t go unnoticed: for example, to keep the octopus fresh, the plastic bag containing it was not only wrapped in a double layer of ice bags but also filled with tiny pieces of ice!! That says a lot about freshness, but also the portions were generous or at least perfect for two people (we actually manage to have even leftovers for the next day). Here is what we could buy with our budget: 14 pcs of Kimchi Dumplings, King Prawns, half a kilo of Chopped Little Octopus, 150g of Gindara Misoyaki (uncooked black cod), 8 pcs of Takoyaki (octopus balls), 200g of Unagi Kabayaki (Eel), 6 Yuzu Lemon Ice Cream Mochi. To this, add some sauces and herbs: Thai Red Chilli Peppers, Sesame Oil, Coriander, Chopped Green Onion. And as if it was not enough, they also gifted us with a bag of Bamboo Shoots. Everything was, as I said, fresh and delicious - I was quite surprised about the octopus especially. But some things literally blew my mind. In particular, I don’t think you will find anywhere in London such a good quality of prawns for this price. The cod, also, was a stunning surprise. Here is another good thing about Eatoo. Some things will arrive already cooked, like the Takoyaki and eel - so really the only thing you will have to be bothered with is warming them up. Other things have so precise instructions, like the cod, that in less than 10 minutes you will have the dish, warm, ready on your table. Needless to say, we have been very happy with this experience and we look forward to trying soon sukiyaki or a mini barbecue on the small table in our living room.
