This week I had the pleasure of attending Bafarat’s launch of their new afternoon tea. When I arrived, I was greeted with a choice of iced lattes, coffees and juices to suit my taste before the big menu tasting.
When the afternoon tea extravaganza arrived, I was utterly shocked at how beautifully presented each chocolate, cake and biscuit was presented on a long edible tree trunk made of dark chocolate. Carefully placed in the centre, was a choice of savouries, including the likes of a truffle croque monsieur, a lobster roll and my absolute favourite – a salmon and avocado toast, made with thick sweet bread to compliment the rest of the desserts.
We then moved onto the patisseries, which included an apple & cranberry tart, a mango & passion fruit cheesecake, a pistachio éclair, a Columbian coffee tart, a Belize Origine Chocolate Macaron, a peanut salted caramel cookie and some scones and jam. Priced at just £25 a head, I can honestly say it’s the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had. But there’s no stopping yet…
For an extra £8, you can experience the infamous Chocolate Tree, made entirely out of chocolate. On each branch of the beautifully crafted tree, was a stunning chocolate piece, including a dark chocolate truffle, chocolate nougat, a yuzu & chocolate bomb and a tender caramel and peanut dessert.
Every single dessert brought something new to the table, whether it was a tangy twist to your pallet or a chocolate haven; there is definitely something for everyone! I think it’s fair to say there is almost more than enough for two people if you have everything on the menu and it’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself and a loved one to a day out in a luxury café.
