Feeling creamy! Time to tuck in to Maitre Choux's gorgeous eclairs
Sometimes, you just get the urge to really indulge. Sometimes, only a glorious cream-filled eclair will hit the spot. In times like these, you can't go wrong with a quick trip to Maitre Choux. Believe us when we say seeing all their beautiful, delectable creations laid out on the counter ready to choose from is half the fun - these tasty treats are serious eye candy!
The brain-child of Joakim Prat, who is something of an Instagram sensation himself, Maitre Choux specialises in the very best French pastries - they don't just do eclairs, you see, there's bite-size chouquettes too; dotted with mouth-watering crystals of sugar. We fell in love with chouquettes last time we were in France so we were so happy to find out you could get them in London too.
The eclairs are without a doubt the main attraction though - and there are a whole host of colourful options to choose from. We went for a vivid, bright green pistachio as well as the stunning hazelnut flavour one that looks like it's made of solid gold. The taste and consistency are spot on too - the pastry has just the right firmness to it, and the sweetness of the cream inside is never overpowering.
Maitre Choux have a smattering of locations across London now - you can find them in South Kensington, Chelsea, and Canary Wharf. We popped into the Soho branch for our visit and loved the cute, cosy feel. What's more, they're now doing an amazing Sweet Pink Afternoon Tea where you get to pair their eclairs with a fizzing glass of pink Laurent Perrier Champagne. Lovely!
