Review of Bokksu - Japanese snacks Box
If you are anything like me and LOVE to travel, then you probably have a giant shaped whole where travel used to be and have missed not being able to plan your next trip during this pandemic. I love being able to explore different cultures and traditions, therefore you can imagine my delight when I discovered Bokksu. We may not be able to travel and explore other cultures and traditions, however culture and tradition can travel to us in the form of Bokksu.
Bokksu are a Japanese company who provide premium Japanese snacks and tea pairings. Customers choose a plan and subscribe to Bokksu, who deliver a new box every month with a variety of 20-24 different Japanese treats. You can also purchase a box as a one of gift and Bokksu are able to deliver to a large number of countries worldwide. I was excited to open my package from Bokksu. The presentation is great and the treats arrived in a bright orange box with Japanese writing on it. You immediately appreciate that you have received a gift from Japan. Upon opening the box, you will find a lovely gestured thank you card and cultural guide and underneath this awaits all the treats which are neatly packaged below. The cultural guide provides information about Japan through the seasons, with additional details about each snack in the box, where it originated from in Japan and also some allergen information. All the boxes at Bokksu contain a mixture of sweet and savoury snack delights, that will have you feeling like you are eating like a local. Some of the treats resembled snacks that I have had before, however there were some that were completely new to my taste buds. My favourites snacks were the Red Bean Doughnut, Matcha Chocolate Stick Cake and the Seaweed Tempura. Other delights also included chocolate infused strawberries, sticky rice dumplings, a pear fromage biscuit, an apple and caramel cookie and savoury rice crackers. What I really like about this company is their attention to detail and the care they put into their packages. Bokksu offer a unique way to learn, taste and experience Japanese culture from the comfort of your own home. They definitely beat other Japanese snack makers, as they source their artisan products directly from local snack makers and are not mass produced. I would highly recommend trying Bokksu and their boxes make a perfect and unique gift to send to someone. Alternatively, you could also simply enjoy this monthly care package all to yourself (although there are around 20-24 treats so feel free to share…if you want) 😊
