Whilst we can’t go to Japan - Japanese snacks come to us! Bokksu review!

Lockdown restrictions mean that international travel is curtailed! The adventure and relaxation from a foreign holiday might be forbidden but procuring deliverable foreign foods to ourselves via Royal Mail and others mean that we can still feed ourselves with delicious foreign treats! The Japanophiles out there can celebrate with Bokksu; a high-end artisan Japanese snack delivery service who send monthly subscription boxes of regional Japanese snacks to those that order.

Japanese snacks are like no other, taking in the traditional, Western and fusion elements and experimenting away! In addition to green tea and yuzu- Japanese citrus fruit - gummies, we have the likes of salty Camembert cheesecake which resembles a biscuit, delicious chocolate biscuit cigars and spicy fried onion and garlic crisps which resemble greasy crackers versus crisps. Whilst you are not expected to like every item in the box, it’s a great way to try new flavours and textures. The items in the box come in small portions and this keeps the snacking healthy- something those of us working from home may appreciate in the ongoing fight against Covid carbs and Curvy-19! The other thing of note is the personal touch from the owner of Bokksu; he writes a monthly forward and introduces the Japanese region the snacks hail from. Relevant information on ingredients and tourist sites whet the consumers appetite for all things Japanese and tempt you into planning trips there in the future. I’m looking forward to seeing what future boxes hold in store - Kanagawa was exciting enough and I’m going to order more! Rated 4/5.
