The coolest kid on the Blok. Blok -74, Brighton.

As we have only been able to staycation up until now, I jumped at the chance to go to Brighton to kick start summer 2021. Blok-74 is a tech smart, quirky hotel and the perfect place to stay for a Brighton trip.

No dodgy dated B&B is required, instead check into the smart, clean and trendy boutique number that is Blok-74. The location is point perfect. A stone's throw from Brighton seafront and about a 5/10 min walk from the rest of the action. The team were really friendly prior to my check-in and gave me a full rundown on the keyless check-in and where to park if needed. I was sent an email the day before confirming the entry code, who to contact during my stay -if needed, and some covid safety information also. Brighton is easily accessible by train but we drove and found the parking apps pretty easy to use, although It is recommended you don't rely on parking as it can be notoriously tricky. Blok-74 is an inconspicuously cool town house and the code sent through let us straight into a quirky, clean entrance with an amazing biophillic design mural throughout the corridors. We then walked to the back of the town house to their signature industrial-style room. It was really spacious and had a continuation of the biophilic mural and really striking features. There was an exposed brickwork wall also and as I found out through the website, the bespoke headboards are made out of the building’s original timber which is hundreds of years old. The features and bright yellow lights are really industrial and provoked much conversation about where they must have come from.....our bets are on a giant industrial unit somewhere in the area. The whole design of the interior was fresh and modern, yet functional and comfortable. The room had a GIANT bed so you are guaranteed a really good night's sleep. The shower was really clean and looked brand new. You can also open the windows with ease, which is such a bonus in a hotel, sometimes you just need fresh air. Surprisingly, there was very little noise from the surrounding area and we had no disturbance, apart from the odd seagull in the morning, which reminded me we were near the sea, a lovely reminder! There was hanging space, an iron & ironing board, hairdryer, fridge, kettle, some refreshments and a coffee machine. The extra touches were also appreciated, with branded mugs, glasses and cushions. Everything was thought of to make the stay feel relaxed and comfortable, but with a cool and edgy twist. The fact that check-in is keyless and there is no reception desk is, in my eyes - a real perk. No faff, there was no need to ask for any extras at any point and the location was spot on. I couldn't think of a better place to stay when exploring Brighton. Make it your go-to for accommodation.
