The brand new NETIL360 Rooftop Sauna experience
Netil 360 is an alfresco rooftop bar, cafe and workspace, near London Fields. It now boasts a sauna with stunning views over the sparkling skyscrapers of the City of London and Canary Wharf, as well as the gritty industrial landscape of Hackney.
I was a bit concerned that a sauna located on a busy rooftop bar might not be an entirely relaxing experience. In fact, it was surprisingly sheltered – although you could hear the music, it was relaxing, ambient stuff and didn't really detract from the sauna itself. There are two saunas, a communal a area with two fire pits and cold showers, a warm shower (for after you have finished) and toilet and a changing room. You are presented with a bucket of water for the sauna and a choice of essential oils – lemongrass, lavender and orange. We opted for the latter and enjoyed the sweet, citrus aroma. Water is provided, allowing you to rehydrate between sessions, as you relax by the fire. After you have finished your session, you are provided with a choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks from the mini-bar (except for those booking the express session). There are three different booking options: Express – 45 mins (£30 for one person, £18 per person for a group of four) Slow – 1 hour 30 mins (£50 per person for two, £35 person for a group of four) Longer – 2 hours 15 mins (£60 per person for two, £45 per person for a group of four. Obviously, it works out as better value to go as a group, although the saunas will be quite cosy for four people. There is also only one changing room (although plenty of people get changed in the toilet). I spoke with the sauna attendant and she mentioned that there is a plan to expand this over the winter, with a series of saunas across the Netil rooftop, potentially serving mulled wine to customers, after their sauna. I liked the fact that there were both hot and cold showers, although I would maybe suggest upgrading the cold showers to bucket-style ones, as they give a better cold-water shock. The attendant was very friendly and helpful and able to guide us through the process. I would like to return at some point – ideally on a day with clearer skies, to better enjoy the sunset. I would actually consider bringing two groups of four and booking out the whole area – as this could be a good place for a party or other celebration.
