Avenue restaurant offers mouth watering, fresh and vibrant seasonal plates of deliciousness from to their new head chef Rudi Warner. Coupled with live jazz music, part of their Gin and Jazz on Thursday evenings only. You will enjoy seriously good vibes listening to Live music by talented musicians. The music consisted of a guitarist and a singer. It created a relaxed atmosphere and helped bring the place to life. It’s a beautiful, classy and elegant place with a calm ambience. There are beautiful paintings and lots of gorgeous comfy cushions. We’ve started our night with a King prawn raviolo, bisque from the shells, fennel, orange and black olive. It was cooked to perfection, I thought the bisque was not overly rich, had a great summery taste which complemented the prawn raviolo very nicely. We’ve also had Slow Roast Ox Tail, coddled egg, Assam pepper and crispy onions for starters. The egg was oozy in the middle and the ox tail was rich and warm. The crispy onion gave contrast, providing a crunch to the soft egg and ox tail. They perfect starters to the evening and bringing our taste buds to life. For main course I’ve had the Dry-Aged Beef fillet, charred Grelot onions, confit potato and bone marrow jus. I have mine medium rare and it was perfectly cooked, the beef melts in your mouth. The bone marrow jus was rich and delightful, the confit potato underneath the beef was buttery and creamy. Everything came together very well, a pleasure to eat. My husband had the Poached Native Lobster, lemon sole mousse, young peas and creamed bisque from the shells. The bisque complemented the lobster wonderfully, which could have been a dish by itself. The lobster was succulent, soft and meaty, lobster tail is just divine. Our main course were paired with a lovely, silky bottle of red wine. We couldn’t skip dessert and I highly recommend you don’t either. I’ve had Morello Cherry Pie, pistachio praline, white chocolate mousse. It was simply the most amazing dessert I have ever tried. I’m usually a big fan of cherry desserts and this one was by far my favourite. The star dish of the night in my opinion. My husband loves his cheese so we had to have the cheese selection, seasonal chutney and crackers. Great choices! We throughly enjoyed our evening at The Avenue Restaurant and we are looking forward to visit again, we highly recommend you do to!
