Crosstown Doughnuts - a hole in one!

I have been a long-time follower of Crosstown Doughnuts so jumped at the opportunity to try some of their latest range of flavours and products. If you don’t already know, Crosstown Doughnuts is a bakery that hand-make their doughnuts fresh daily. They have perfected their signature hybrid sourdough recipe (and a vegan version too!), which is the world’s first yeast-raised sourdough base that they have become renown for.

Their range of doughnut flavours are quite unique – currently ranging from mango + chipotle chilli, lime + coconut, peanut butter + blackcurrant compote and cinnamon scroll – so there’s something for everyone. We chose: - Matcha Tea - Cinnamon Scroll - Lime + Coconut - Blueberry + lemon - lychee + raspberry - Tongan vanilla bean glaze - Dark chocolate truffle - Peanut butter + blackcurrant compote The dough was just as pillow-y and light as I remember, and the glazes were packed full of flavour with just the right amount of sweetness. I can see them pairing well with your morning coffee (or tea!). Despite the name, Crosstown Doughnuts also offer a range of cookies – chocolate chip, peanut + chocolate chip and oat + apricot. The cookies were soft and doughy in the middle, just how I like it. I don’t usually like fruit and chocolate combos but was surprised to find that the standout flavour for me was the oat + apricot. The chocolate chip also a solid choice. And last but not least, they’ve introduced an array of ice cream flavours to their menu. We tried the peanut butter + blackcurrant and strawberries + cream. If you like PB&J then you will love the former. The strawberries + cream tasted more like a strawberry sorbet… and I’m not mad at that – perfect on a hot Summer’s day. The staff at their London Bridge doughnut truck and ice cream trike – Seth and Gabbie (I hope I spelled their names right!) – were super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. They gave us honest recommendations and really made the experience more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend giving Crosstown Doughnuts a try – they also make a great gift or dessert for special events and occasions. Seems like I’ll be having doughnuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next few days – donut judge me!
