Katsute, a little piece of heaven

The one piece of heaven with hands down the best macha cake I have ever had! Katsute is one of those small hidden gems that blend in within the environment, but once you are in, it takes your breath away. It mesmerised me with the great ambience, amazing food and great tea.

When it comes to the ambience, you can feel it from the moment you walk in. The general vibe is chill and romantic, but also amazing for relaxed work (if you are into it). If you do get the chance to sit at the amazing table next to the window, you will be blessed with a view of the great garden, but still, sit in a nice tea room. We did have that chance, and it was amazing! Plus, the music, oh it does make you feel relaxed and like time has slowed down. Additionally, I enjoyed tasting their weekend brunch menu. It is simple, yet well balanced with a wide choice of tasty dishes. Additionally, they have put a lot of thought into how to combine it with the ambience and wide range of tea. We tried the octopus and potatoes with the Youzo sauce and the soba salad. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the soba salad was, just amazing. It was my first time having noodle salad, and it did surprise me a lot. What also mounted to the surprise was that after finishing it, we were neither hungry nor stuffed. But this all changed with the cake. The matcha cake was the best part of the visit. The layers were so soft and thin, they effortlessly carried the matcha flavour and the rich cream. It is so well balanced, it makes me want to eat it again and again, which I would love to! To add to that, the Youzo pound cake was super moist and packed with flavours. It is also a great pairing with any of the great black teas they have. To sum it up, the food is great and well balanced in flavour and size, the tea selection is fascinating and the cakes are to die for. I hope that you also have the same great experience as I did.
