You choux can't lose at Maitre Choux!
I’ve always walked past Maitre Choux and admired the beautifully crafted eclairs and choux buns on display. This time I had the honour of trying a few of the flavours from their new summer range.
The menu tasting consisted of: - Strawberry and Persian Pistachio éclair - Passion Meringue éclair - Chouquettes - Hibiscus and lychee iced tea Everything tasted as good as it looked, if not better! Each dish had the perfect amount of sweetness and all the little details in the decoration made the experience that much more special. The passionfruit curd in the Passion Meringue éclair was silky smooth and had the right balance of tartness and sweetness; and the flavours in the Strawberry and Persian Pistachio éclair were so delicate and fresh. A notable standout for me would be the chouquettes. I didn’t expect too much with it sitting next to the two beautiful eclairs on the table, but I was wrong. They are so soft and airy with a slight crunch from the sugar crystals… it’s hard to stop after just one. In fact, I think I had about 6 in one sitting! I also really enjoyed the refreshingly light iced tea, which had just a hint of sweetness to help cleanse your palate after enjoying all these delicious treats. As the first and only choux pastry specialist patisserie in the world, it’s pretty clear that Maitre Choux know what they’re doing in the realm of choux pastry. And with three Michelin star-experienced chefs behind the menu, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Perfect for a special occasion, breakfast, lunch or dessert - you choux can’t lose!
