Let me admit something to you all. I love a doughnut more than the average person. So much so that I often order crosstown via the Deliveroo app whilst I'm still in bed. My favourite is a vegan spirulina doughnut with a creamy coconut filling and lime glaze arrives just as my coffee is made and I eat it loving life. I'm not proud of this fact but neither am I ashamed. In fact, I like to practice balance so...it's just as well really.
Last week was one of pure indulgence. When a box of six doughnuts arrives at the door, alongside six beautiful cookies and four tubs of ice cream. You know that you're incredibly lucky, grateful and blessed but will at some point also need to go for a run. I opted for the vegan bundle as I am desperately trying to reduce my animal product intake. The box of six doughnuts included my favourite: the lime and coconut, the blueberry and lemon cake doughnut, the dark chocolate truffle, the Tongan vanilla bean, the peanut butter and blackcurrant compote and the lychee and rose. The cookies were a mixture of oat & apricot and peanut butter & dark chocolate. The cookies are absolutely delicious, especially when warmed through in the microwave for fifteen seconds or so. The ice cream (which I still have left!) was peanut butter and blackcurrant jam ice cream and sea salt and dark chocolate ice cream. Crosstown are and will always be my favourite supplier of delicious items and the fact that they offer plant-based alternatives alongside their classic range is amazing for vegans and those who are trying to reduce their animal product intake. I always opt for the vegan doughnuts because they're delicious in their own right and I never ever feel as though I'm missing out. I cannot wait to try their new peach and English sparkling rose doughnut so that I can cling onto summer for just a little longer!
