Japanese Tea Salon in Angel
Katsute 100 is a cute Japanese style cafe located just 2 minutes walk away from Angel underground station. They sell authentic Japanese tea and Sweets. It is also possible to buy Japanese ceramics and different kinds of Japanese sake and Whiskey. The ambiance is wonderful; The pretty Japanese décor combined with the traditional Japanese music made for an extremely relaxing atmosphere. I loved the beautiful tea garden at the back.
Katsute 100 is a very small cafe with limited tables. On a warm and sunny day the outdoor seating in the garden is always the best port of call to eat. I went there on a Friday, luckily the place wasn't crowded much. The service was very friendly, helpful and efficient. One staff member helped me to decide which cakes to choose from their menu. They also have an extensive Sake and Tea menu, which was great as I don’t normally see so many choices for Sake in other Japanese restaurants. My order consisted of 1. Strawberry short cake- This is my personal favourite out of the two cakes I had. I love the combination of strawberries & cream, this cake is great! It was beautifully decorated and tasted heavenly. 2. Matcha Crepe cake- Matcha Crepe Cake is made of thin layers of green tea crepes stacked together with fresh whipped cream in-between. Their matcha powder tastes bitter, which makes a great balance in a sweet cake. This charming teahouse offers reasonably priced but authentic tea, traditional sweets and desserts. So I believe it's a great place to visit if you want to learn more about Japanese teas and culture.
