Nuts about Ludlow Nuts
The Ludlow Nut Company was established in 2004 and is an award-winning artisan producer of breakfast cereals, nut butters, nuts, dried fruits, and lots more, using only the finest natural ingredients, with no artificial preservatives or colourings. A quick look at their website shows the extent of the range of healthy nut and seed based products, and all the packaging is recyclable too.
For this experience I sampled their milk chocolate coated Brazil nuts, dark chocolate coated coffee beans, and the hazelnut granola breakfast cereal. First up, the coffee beans, which are a great favourite of mine. Open the resealable pack for the first time and you get the delicious aromas of roast coffee, followed by that of quality dark chocolate. Bite into one of the shiny little beans. The flavour is intense, with the coffee bean first – a perfect roast with no bitterness - followed by the chocolate co-mingling in the mouth to give a rich satisfying combination. Enjoy these with an espresso, or with friends, or as a superior alternative to after dinner mints or petit-fours. I opened the Brazils next. Again, there is a distinct aroma when you first open the pack, this time chocolate first, but followed underneath by the pleasant earthiness of the Brazil nut. Bite one in half and the sweetness of the milk chocolate gives way to the initial crunch then creaminess of the nut kernel. Another great combination. I recommend you put some aside for yourself because they won’t last long when your guests or family come around! I saved the granola for breakfast; it is packed full of delicious seeds and nuts, and added some autumn raspberries from the garden. The granola is plenty sweet enough but if you do want it a bit sweeter, add quality honey - which complements the ingredients - in preference to sugar. A terrific breakfast treat, and it’s doing you good too! Try with unsweetened yoghurt instead of milk for a change too.
