Po'Boys Kitchen
Po’ Boys Kitchen is a wonderful eatery in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco that hosts the warmth of Southern Charm!
We started off splitting a pitcher of Sangria (which was perfect for 2 people). After that, the food came out quickly and flowed all night! We opted for the ‘Greatest Hits’ of a classic Southern Meal: Appetizers: -Cajun Fried Okra, which came with fun dipping sauces (that we used for the rest of the night!) -Baked Mac & Cheese Starters: -Seafood Jambalaya -Shrimp & Grits Mains: -Chicken Dinner with Mashed Potatoes and Collard Greens -Chicken Po’Boy Sandwich Dessert -Beignets, of course-- Somehow we found room to end with something sweet! We even had the chance to meet the owner, who has been working with the same team for many years, finessing their delicious recipes. My favorite was the Po’Boy; the meat was so juicy, followed by the perfect crunch and heat from the sauce. Cooking Southern food from scratch is counted in days (never mind hours!) so we enjoyed the experience even more, not having to wait for slow-cooked comfort food! We were delighted to spend date night eating, drinking, and people watching outside, on the brilliantly colored oilcloth tables. We even heard New Orleans Style Jazz music being piped in which was a nice touch! I highly recommend Po’Boys Kitchen to feel instantly transported to the Southern hospitality of Louisiana.
