Crosstown started its life in London's Leather Lane Market, back in 2014. They have several stands across the city with a super cool food truck in London Bridge where I pre ordered and collected from. You can find them at several markets and you order them online. I actually came across Crosstown Doughnuts at work as Crosstown replaced the Krispy Kreme mantle for office birthdays. However by the time I usually get to the box, the preferred one that I want to devour is always always swiftly taken. Each delicious in their own right I wanted however to try a whole range so collected one of their ‘Favourites box of 12’ that has a good balanced selection of their classic, seasonal, premium, and vegan doughnut flavours. I received: * The Milk Chocolate Ring * The Cinnamon Scroll * The Tongan Vanilla Glaze x 2 * The Matcha Tea * Peach & English Sparkling Rosé (ve) * Sri Lankan Cinnamon Sugar * Apricot & Thyme (ve) * Chocolate Truffle * Raspberry Jam * Peanut Butter & Blackcurrant Compote (ve) * Lime & Coconut (ve) Each doughnut has unique flavour and name and the first we tried was the limited edition special they have this month, the Apricot and Thyme. Super fruity and jammy, the fresh Apricot was cut through with the autumn flavour of thyme. The doughnuts are fluffy and light tasting and not in any way greasy! Which I love! The unique flavour special really worked and additionally visually looked stunning. The Chocolate Rings were a luxurious super chocolatey hit and the creamy decadent truffle topping was dusted with cocoa. Although a super chocolatey and heavier one than the others it was not overly sweet and balanced just right with the amount of chocolate ganache. We next have Vanilla Glaze, a perfectly balanced set of 2 with flavourful vanilla glaze. It is nowhere near as sweet as another competitors version which is just what you want. The Cinnamon ones including the Scroll and Dusted cinnamon ring were excellent! Super fluffy cinnamon spice with a creamy glaze on the Scroll. The powdered one a big cinnamon hit for those wanting the less creamy flavours. The outstanding one for me was in line with the Apricot one., the Peanut Butter and Blackberry Compote., super jammy made with quality fruit., not overly sweet and the glaze was lovely as it was made with roasty peanut butter! The matcha tea was really good., with a creamy matcha custard and so was the Lime and Coconut. They were both again not sickly sweet and the custard was super fresh creamy tasting. The peach rosé was pretty unique as it was fizzy in your mouth the peach jam cut through the sweeter thicker icing. All were both devoured in a very short amount time. These doughnuts are super special and I would recommend grabbing a box for an occasion where their hand prepared brilliant presentation can be appreciated. It’s a great alternative to a birthday cake as you can get to try different flavours. The shop provides these great bags which are a safe and horizontal way of transporting them! Super special and very very moreish! Can’t wait to see what Crosstown have up their sleeves in flavours to come!
