The tour takes off from London’s Victoria Coach Station and has its own special gate specifically for the tour. Whilst you wait with anticipation your group are then called forward., ticked off the list and you are accompanied to the waiting bus . You hop on and climb to your floor either lower or top deck depending on your booking. The seats and tables are well spaced out and you have plenty of room for your belongings. When you step on board, your table is already set for you and your first gin is waiting as you get comfortable for the tour to start. The friendly staff explain the tour and a few health and safety bits and off you go. Tours on the vintage Routemaster bus depart from Victoria Coach Station or Trafalgar Square. Each vintage bus is beautifully decked out with roses and was equipped with even an air conditioning unit to ensure you are comfortable even on hot days. The theme of this tour was of course gin, so we were delighted with the offering of gin cocktails and gin themed cakes and savouries. The delicious savouries ranged from the classic cucumber and ham and cheese finger sandwiches, a seasonal cheesy pepper muffin to the pastrami burger and smoked salmon pretzel, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The portion size is perfect and you each have your own tiers with plenty of food to tuck in. Following the savouries you have next a variety of delicious sweet treats including a cupcake with Carthy and Black Gin Cream Liqueur., a delicious lemon macaroon., a raspberry tart with rhubarb gin cream., a very delicious tart and sweet gin jelly with crunchy pearls and gooseberry gin pipette and a strawberry moelleux with rhubarb and strawberry gin mousse. Everything was clearly well thought out and excellently executed being fresh., not too sweet and punchy with gin flavour. The gin jelly was especially fancy with the gooseberry pipette creating a bit of a theatrical dessert!! The gin cocktails were large and delicious and served with fruit garnishes and ice. We were served a mix of flavours including * The Rhubarb Blush - made with Slingsby Rhubarb Gin with pomelo and pink pepper tonic from London Essence and served with mixed berries. * The Basil Collins - made with Slingsby London Dry Gin with peach and jasmine tonic from London Essence and served with fresh basil leaves. * And finally, the Gooseberry Fizz - made with Slingsby Gooseberry Gin with Orange and Elderflower Tonic from London Essence and served with a fresh orange slice. Following the delicious savoury and sweet lunch, our tour guide offered out warm homemade scones, jam and clotted cream, which was a lovely treat – after all it wouldn’t be afternoon tea without them. The freshly baked scones with cream were heavenly with the little pot of jam.  The fact they were warm made all the difference! In the bus there are two 4-seater tables and two 2-seater tables on the lower deck of the bus and upstairs, you can find another four 4-seater tables and two 2-seater tables (VIP are situated in the front of the bus). The staff have tables on each floor to serve out your drinks and food. The moving and shaking of the bus while eating makes a different experience but surprisingly nothing much moved around and there are cup holders in the tables to slot your beakers. The two tier stand is wide and your table big to not really have any problems in knocking things over. You cannot walk around during the tour (and also no toilet), but with the tour being around 1.5 hours, you should be ok and focused on enjoying the tour., chatting with your guests and enjoying the fresh and delicious sweets and savouries in front of you. During the tour, music is played and also commentary with some tour guide information of some of the sights and landmarks along the way. You see sights such as the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Marble Arch, Harrods and much more! An exciting alternative to your normal London bus tour, Brigit’s Bakery Afternoon Tea and the pairing of sipping on three different Gin & Tonics from the Slingsby collection is a superb experience!
