An evening at The Life Goddess

We were incredibly excited to try this restaurant. Which from their website promises to provide a ‘Gastronomic journey to Greece’ And boy did it deliver. Located along the iconic Carnaby street inside Kingly Court it provides a gorgeous setting to enjoy their authentic Greek food.

The restaurant is beautiful and small enough that it makes you feel like you are getting some special service. With a canopy of Ivy hanging above you and gorgeous bottles of wine lining the walls it welcomes you into the restaurant. We were lucky enough to sit along their window bar where we were provided with a full view of the lights of Kingly Court. They have a lovely bar to the side where you can see them mixing some of their incredible cocktails. Also, with a lovely treat of seeing their chef making your food. They have an extensive drinks menu with cocktails ranging from the classics you know and love to their signature cocktails. We tried the Greek Champagne, which was so sweet and pretty and included Limoncello, raspberries, mint and some fantastic Greek bubbly. We also tried one of their mocktails, the Spring punch which was so refreshing and exquisite. All the cocktails were reasonably priced and looked delicious and most definitely Instagram worthy. They also had an extensive wine list with an incredibly helpful key on what dishes they would pair well with and what sort of taste you would experience with them. Also including some that come directly from the barrel. Their menu is full of alluring things that we wanted to try, so much so that we couldn’t pick so we asked what they recommended. The menu is split into starters that are both Cold and Hot, and then mains and street food. Including a section that shows their delicious seafood. We shared all the dishes so we could get the full affect, getting two starters and two mains. For the starters we went with their recommendation of the Feta spring rolls. These may have been the prettiest thing we have ever eaten. The thin pastry was filled with lots of delicious feta cheese and then the whole thing was drizzled with orange, black sesame seeds and honey which gave it the perfect balance of sweet and salty. We also got Sticky Pork ribs which were so good and covered in a sweet sauce. They also came with some potatoes which really worked well with the dish but did end up making the portion very large. For mains we tried one of their sea food dishes and a street food. We got the calamari bites which came in a poppadom like nest with more of the country potatoes. The calamari itself was nice and crispy with just enough spiciness that you could still appreciate the seafood. We also then got one of their Chicken Gyros which came with a tomato and onion salad, tzatziki and a pita. The chicken was really delicious and had a good balance of gorgeous pieces of chicken and some of the crispy skin. The dish again came with more of their country potatoes as well as a very fluffy pita. We did feel however that the pita was quite small in comparison to the amount of chicken you receive and could just do with being a bit bigger. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at this restaurant, and you’d be hard pressed to find a more pleasant place to enjoy some authentic Greek food. The staff were all friendly and incredibly helpful when it came to recommending things we may like. We would highly recommend.
