An Extravagant Dinner Experience at The Castle Inn Hotel
We enjoyed a few drinks by the fire in the pub, (which was, to my absolute delight, filled with dogs!), before getting shown to our table in the main restaurant (no dogs there unfortunately for me, but I imagine that’s better for health and safety!). We were lucky enough to be looked after by a senior member of staff, who was kind, friendly, and accommodating.
As this was a new experience for us, my partner and I decided to sample various starters and desserts rather than the usual single main course. We loved this! Having lots of smaller portions of fantastic food felt really fun and lavish. The staff was supportive and considerate at every turn, providing information for the various courses that we were trying to decide upon. I aim to choose gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan where possible, and there were multiple options that supported my dietary requirements. I enjoyed a beautiful onion tartlet, with a crisp rocket salad on the side. We both shared a number of bread and cheese platters, all including the various extras that one could hope for: balsamic and oil dip, chutney, celery, butter, etc. The food was prepared and cooked perfectly and the staff ensured that everything was brought out as quickly as possible. As we were really looking forward to a luxurious and relaxing evening in bed, we decided to take our desserts and (even more!) cheese to our room with us. I especially enjoyed the vegan dessert, which was a chocolate torte with vegan ice cream. The tea station in the room was perfect for our evening, and the staff was kind enough to provide us with dairy-free milk. We felt really looked after during the whole evening and we can’t wait to return!
