Hidden Gem In The Middle Of The City at the host cafe

If you're tired of the same old coffee shops and looking for something a little bit more on the interesting side, then The Host is the place for you! Situated inside the beautiful St Mary Aldermary Church near St. Paul's. This cafe serves fresh coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, and delicious pastries at very reasonable prices, a friendly smile, and a stunning view to boot.

My favorites were the Vegan Peanut Butter Blondie, Carrot Cake and Berries, Banana, Orange & Apple Juice Smoothie. It's also a great place to people watch as it attracts everyone from freelancers having meetings to tourists accidentally stumbling across the cafe. Take your pick of comfortable tables and chairs, long tables and benches or pews to sit at. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 7.30 am - 3 pm. I arrived at 10.30 am on a Wednesday and stayed for about an hour, drinking my coffee and taking it all in. It got pretty busy around 11 am. Early mornings and about 30 mins before closing tend to be the quieter times I was told. Not only is The Host a cafe but it can also be hired out for events and concerts. All the profits from the café are returned to the church to finance the upkeep and maintenance of this magical 300-year-old building. St Mary's Aldermary was damaged in the Great Fire in 1666 and re-built by the famous architect Christoper Wren in 1668 in a late Gothic style. A 5/5 stars unique experience that I almost want to keep a fantastic cafe a secret for myself! Can't wait to come back during lunchtime to try out their sandwiches and soups on offer.
