Una Serata Italiana
Okay, so I'm not in Italy, I am, in fact, in my terraced house in Mid Wales, BUT for this evening, I have 'transported' myself to the Italian Riviera. L'incontro translates to "the meeting," and what the founders (siblings Alessandro and Roberta) have created is the most beautiful Italian hampers for we British to enjoy in our own homes.
I love a hamper, something so exciting about opening it up and seeing all the beautiful treats inside. As soon as I saw the beautiful box, I knew that something special would be hidden in there. Inside were individually vacuum-packed cheeses, cured meats, aubergine fillets in olive oil, and a box of Foccacia Croccante. I invited my sister round on Saturday evening to share a bottle of wine and the Italian sharing platter. We don't get a chance to spend much time together these days, but when we do meet up, food and drinks are always part of the plan, and as much as we like going out, we'd both had busy weeks, and the thought of staying in with some delicious food was just what we both needed. The cheese in this hamper was Caciocavallo Affumicato and Bergorino, which I had never tried before. The Caciocavallo Affumicato is a pasteurized cow milk cheese with a smoked flavor, and it worked beautifully with the aubergine fillets in the hamper. The Bergorino was smooth and had a delicate flavor. The meats, spicy salami, and Filone ( a cured meat made from pork) were delicious. So full of flavor and a beautiful texture. They arrive in one piece in the hamper, so I sliced it up and was amazed at just how many slices I got out of each piece. The range of cheeses, meats, antipasti, and pieces of bread available from L'incontro is fantastic. They have many different hampers options available, and within those options, you can choose what options you would like. It was so lovely to enjoy high-quality Italian food (yes, it is all made in Italy) in the comfort of my own home. Since 2020 we have as a nation become much more confident in entertaining at home and having services such as L'incontro delivering foods to our door that we may not have had the opportunity before is just incredible. I will be ordering more hampers from L'incontro. I think when the weather finally gets warmer, I can sit outside with a glass of wine or gin and pretend that I'm on the Amalfi Coast. Saluti!
