Sunday Brunch Experience at Lake Chalet
Lake Chalet, located in Oakland, is definitely worth visiting! The restaurant sits perfectly on Lake Merritt so you know the dining experience came with gorgeous views. When you look at the cocktail & beverage menu, you'll notice that their craft draft beers are locally brewed at their sister restaurant in San Francisco's Beach Chalet.
Their extensive brunch menu caters to all seafood lovers. Knowing that their seafood is sustainability sourced and their meats come from a small cooperative group of ranchers that does not use hormones or antibiotics was an added bonus. For their drinks, we sampled their prickly pear sangria and iced Irish. The prickly pear sangria is something that I've never tried before. I like my drinks on the fruitier side so this drink was right up my alley. The iced Irish, on the other hand, had a strong kick to it. With the appetizers, we sampled their avocado toast, blueberry lemon ricotta beignets, crab & shrimp cakes, and the artichoke dip. The avocado toast might be the best avocado toast that I've ever tried. The combination of chiptole creama, bacon jam, and queso fresco really brought it to the next level. 10/10 would get again. The beignets were not traditional square beignets that I used to but, nonetheless, they were still delicious. It paired really well with the raspberry cardamom jam. The crab and shrimp cakes were packed with crab meat. It's served with a saffron aioli that compliments the dish really well. The artichoke dip was very cheesy and also packed with large amounts of crab meat. We ended up trying their maine lobster roll and dungeness crab melt as entrees. Oh my goodness, both of them were loaded with seafood! The lobster roll had huge chunks of lobster meat that sat in between the perfectly toasted brioche bun. The crab melt was loaded with flakey crab meat that tasted so delicious with their cheddar-gouda cheese. This was one of the best dining experiences that I've had so far. Next time you're craving seafood with great views and great vibes, I recommend trying Lake Chalet.
