“Toast” to Ethical Craft Ale

The arrival of a box delivered by the postie is generally a delight, mainly when the delivery includes alcohol. What better than a box of real craft ale at your door, and when I say ale, it's not just any craft ale but ale made from leftover bread? Yes, you heard bread!

The business sources fresh, unsold, surplus bread that would otherwise be thrown away from bakeries in London and turns the bread into breadcrumbs for brewing and bottling. What's great is that it is pretty surprising that it's all done for a good cause! Toast ethically donates 100% of its profits to Feedback, a charity that fights global food waste, a reason that is seriously a hot topic at the moment! Not only is it helping tackle this issue head-on and setting a great example. I'm glad to say the ales taste amazing! The higher-end strength is punchy at 5% but is light and crisp tasting. The amber color of the IPA is super refreshing and hoppy through to the dark and rich-tasting porter. Toast also does non-alcoholic versions that taste just as good, light and refreshing, and packed with flavor! The ales are brewed with malted barley, hops, yeast, and water. I enjoyed trying out the Taster Pack that offered a range of 8 beers to try for a very reasonable £24 and includes: Core Range: 1 x 330ml Pale Ale 5% Golden Zesty. 1 x 330ml Craft Lager 5% Crisp. Refreshing. Planet-saving. 1 x 330ml Session IPA 4.5% Citrussy. Hoppy. Planet-saving. 1 x 330ml Low Alc Lager 0.5% Light. Refreshing. Planet-saving. 1 x 330ml American Pale Ale 4.8% Bright. Tropical. Planet-saving. Limited Editions: 1 x 440ml Coffee Porter 5.6% A rich, dark, and velvety coffee Porter, with undertones of nuts and whole-bodied coffee. 1 x 440ml Raspberry Sour 0.5% A tart and refreshing beer with fresh raspberry aromas and low in alcohol. 1 x 440ml Juicy IPA 5% A fruity, lightly spiced India Pale Ale with a smooth mouthfeel. All the ales have a lovely malty taste from the bread yeast that counters the characterful bitterness of hops. The beers pour grand into a cold glass and offer something unique and different. Overall, I highly recommend it as the product is fantastic and delicious. The business is hugely charitable, helping counter climate change by doing its bit towards the massive food waste problem. So let's raise a Toast to "TOAST" and get ordering as we can help this fab business with its goal of helping lower carbon emissions through this unique brewing process.
