Host Café - Experience

The Host Café is located in a warm, welcoming church that exudes a roast, caramelized, nutty coffee aroma as soon as you enter. When I first walked into this beautiful church, I noticed the clear, bright stained glass, which was very eye-catching.

The church serves as a workspace/study and a location for extracurricular activities such as yoga. This is only available during the week because the church is used for praying and other ceremonies on weekends. Almond croissant, Vegan peanut butter blondie, Banana bread, and Lemon sorbet cake were among the items that my +1 and I ordered. Iced latte and iced mocha were our beverages. My favorite was the almond croissant; the pastry was flaky, light, and sweet. The almond filling inside was nutty, floral, and vanilla-scented, with a gooey, decadent, very flavourful filling. The almond croissant went well with the iced mocha because the iced mocha was very chocolatey and not sweet, which greatly enhanced the flavors when I combined the two. The banana bread and the lemon sorbet cake came in second and third place, respectively. The banana bread was soft and looked very delicious. The banana bread wasn't too sweet and had hints of sweetness pop out, which for us, as we don't like our slices of bread to be overly sweet and is pretty impressive considering the banana is a sweet fruit, so the bread being not excessively sweet was perfect! My +1's favorite was the lemon sorbet cake, which was delicate, soft, and spongey. The drizzle on top complemented the lemon cake perfectly, which had a great tangy, zingy flavor that went well with the smooth, delicate spongey cake bursting with lemon flavor. This is a must-try for anyone who enjoys lemon-flavored foods because the baked goods were quite sweet, and the iced latte went well with them. The latte was very roasted, flat, unsweetened, just straight coffee. The peanut butter blondie was my least favorite; it was crumbly, dry, and had a strong sweet, slightly salted, nutty, grainy flavor! This would go great with a cup of English tea, in my opinion.
