Primavera - Italian Easter Hamper by L'incontro
What better way to kick off the long Easter bank holiday weekend than with an excellent Italian Easter Hamper? I chose a mixed hamper with cheese & charcuterie selection, and I can say it was a box full of joy, filled to the brim with Italian goodies.
The box came with three different kinds of cheese (hard cheeses), two charcuterie types (salami and spicy nduja), one package of artisanal dry pasta, and some crispy focaccia, and a small box with pickled mixed vegetable antipasti and a chutney. My absolute favorites were the crispy focaccia, the salami Spianata, and the Campagnolo cheese, a mixture of cow & sheep's milk with chili flakes. Very subtle in taste, but the chili flakes give the differentiating touch. The Caciocavallo cheese was a bit too smoked for my taste but still a great addition to a cheeseboard. The blackberry chutney works well with the Contadino cheese, slightly more mature in flavor. I immediately invited a friend to try out the different cheese selections, charcuterie, and antipasti. I also used the pasta to make a pistachio pesto pasta with prawns which she enjoyed. The artisan pasta is of high quality. It can be cooked even a few minutes less than the 10 minutes recommended on the package to keep it "al dente." I did not get to try the spicy nduja yet, but I am looking forward to it and might add it to some pasta sauce or pizza.
