Bottled Cocktails From 'Edmunds Cocktails'

As a package to open this is a sheer delight! It really bought a smile to my face and a rush of excitement! It's beautifully packaged and the cocktail bottles are cute yet sophisticated and classicly simple but stylish.

I was very lucky to receive a shaker and barware that aren't included but can be ordered at an additional cost when you order your bottles of cocktails. I had 6 x 100ml cocktails but there is the option of purchasing 1-litre size bottles. As an avoid-home cocktail maker, I am always cautious and dubious about ready-to-drink cocktails...... I've poured lots down the sink in the past which is part of what attracted me to this experience. I dived straight into the cocktails in the set that I'm more familiar with; Espresso Martini, Old Fashioned and Negroni. Starting with the Espresso Martini I was doubtful that a pre-mixed would get the same level of froth as a freshly made Espresso covered in crema but clearly, from my photos, you can see I was proved wrong! I also add a pinch of salt to an Espresso Martini and guessed that I would want one added to this: absolutely not! Great balance and bitterness of the coffee suitably subdued! Next up was the Old Fashioned! Initially, sweeter on the palette than I would make this fades as the Bourbon comes through. This was a really enjoyable drink with the sweet to Bourbon flavours coming through in an ombre effect on the taste buds. In case you've not picked up on my tendency to be suspicious of RTDs, I'll just give you more evidence by telling you that I was worried that the Negroni would be toned down (by this I mean the bitterness reduced) to suit the needs of a broader domestic market- have no fear this was bitter and bold! Exactly as it should be. With consideration for responsible drinking, we tasted these cocktails over 2 evenings and whilst waiting for the second opportunity to indulge it occurred to me that these delightful little bottles would be extremely convenient for picnics! The Elderflower Tom Collins worked brilliantly as a refreshing and lighter drink for midday sun whilst sitting amongst the daisies. You do need to provide your own soda to top these up but this easily makes two long drinks with a lower ABV and soda is easily sourced. To serve the Kumquat Margarita I went against the instructions and only half salt-rimmed my glass as I know there are mixed views on a salt-rimmed glass.......personally I love a salt rim! This was possibly my favourite drink in the box! Bright & summery and yet with earthy classic tequila notes with a commendable sweet/sour balance. Last but not least is the Porn Star Martini. Not a favourite of mine generally, I found this to be too sweet as I normally do. The included rice paper image of edible flour is a beautiful touch. All in all, this was a great experience to review and I'm very glad I had the opportunity I would purchase these drinks and think a selection with glass and shaker would a charming gift!
