Raise a Toast

TOAST was set up seven years ago. This planet-saving beer was made using fresh surplus bread.

They also give any profits to charities fixing the food system. I was sent a selection of their beers including a Low Alcoholic, Porter, Craft Lager, Pale Ale, America Pale Ale and a Session IPA. Here are some of my favourites outlined below. The low alcohol lager (0.5%) has notes of citrus and spices. It retains the flavour of a lager, however without the alcohol. I find that some low alcohol drinks sacrifice the flavour, but this one's definitely big on flavour. The Raspberry Sour is also 0.5%; it's a tart but refreshing drink and a lovely pale pink colour. This is made again using fresh surplus bread and also wonky raspberries from a firm called Rubies in Rubble who market relishes, ketchup and mayo. This is a perfect drink for a summer day and again, another great low-alcoholic option on the market. It's great we are seeing more low-alcoholic and non-alcoholic products both in supermarkets, bars and restaurants. The Coffee Porter is brewed with fresh surplus bread and Fairtrade Brazilian coffee beans. Firstly the aromas of coffee as soon as you open the can are divine. I found this Porter very easy to drink. It's smooth and creamy and not a heavy drink. The Session IPA was also a favourite with me. It has a gorgeous amber colour with aromas of citrus. It's a hoppy drink with sweetness - overall a very refreshing beer. So my overall first impression of TOAST is that they offer a good selection of beer and a great company ethos. I'll definitely be looking out for their products.
