I was so excited to receive this bottle of Dundee Dry Gin in the post courtesy of Hype Experiences today (so much so that I couldn’t wait and had to open it on the very same day that it arrived)
The Dundee Gin co was first founded in 2017 and has grown into a distillery with a very impressive range of premium quality gins and gin liqueurs. This small-batch craft gin combines strength and smoothness to create an absolutely delicious mouthful. The gin is quadruple distilled and is bottled at a whopping 46% ABV. You would think at this strength it would pack a punch but the smoothness has very pleasantly surprised me. I firstly tried gin neat (like I do with any new gin). Juniper is obviously at the forefront (like any good gin), and there are some delicious citrus notes which I am a big fan of. There is also a sweetness to the gin which could be from the liquorice. As I said before I can’t believe just how smooth this gin is and works great as a sipping gin. As it was so delicious and neat, it made sense to try it in a martini, with a splash of vermouth and garnished with a lemon twist. Again this was a delicious serve and any martini fan would benefit from having this gin as part of their collection. My favourite serving for this gin is in a trusty gin and tonic. I paired it with a Mediterranean tonic and garnished it with some fresh lemon wheels, all poured over a shedload of ice. This is such a refreshing g and t, and one that I look forward to enjoying again and again. Definitely, a gin that I am happy to add to my collection!
