Crosstown Spooks us with Pumpkin Themed Donuts

To be honest I had mixed reservations about the new Halloween doughnuts by Crosstown. I absolutely loved the Apple and Cinnamon flavoured ones as well as the recent Pine and Nut collaboration they did. However, there have been a few flavours that fell short to my taste buds in the past, so I wasn’t what to expect. This write-up is coming from the perspective of a musician that just likes to eat sweet food. I’m not a pro, but I’ve written a few songs about things like Almond Croissants & Cinnamon Buns in the past so while I’m passionate - I’m not the guy like that… I've started work on a video review of the topic which you can see on my Instagram too when it's done @byteepeters

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the Crosstown Pumpkin Doughnuts ranked least to best: Pumpkin Cake Regular This was super unexpected for me. Maybe that’s the “trick” element of this trick-or-treat-themed holiday because it wasn’t really a donut. It was a cake in the shape of a donut, and it was very filling. When you watch the video version, you’ll notice that I was super excited by the surprise when I first tried it but later that day, I started to feel very stuffed as I found it difficult to take in the flavour. It was just a lot and despite it tasting good initially, I wouldn’t have it over the others on the list. Vegan Dark Chocolate Truffle The dark chocolate flavour was good. It was one of the better desserts that I’ve had with that flavour. The dough was perfectly fluff and airy and I enjoyed the experience of eating it. I don’t think I’d be able to eat more than one per session, but it would make a great companion in a bundle box. Vegan Pumpkin Custard No doubt one of the best in the range that I’ve ever eaten from Crosstown. While I didn’t love the pumpkin topping garnished on top, I did hear positive reviews about it from someone that actually likes the taste of pumpkin - which I don’t. This doughnut was great because the custard filling was sweet and smooth, the dough was, like #2, fluff and airy and the icing on top was just addictive. Top marks. I might have to write a song about this one day. These were limited edition flavours so if you ever see them make these again then I highly recommend giving my number one a try because it was really good! Otherwise, I definitely recommend you get some other Crosstown's other doughnuts when you’re next nearby.
