Festive Specials @ Marugame Udon 🍜

I love a festive special and I LOVE noodles so put the two things together and I’m in actual heaven! @marugameuk limited festive menu is unlike anything I’ve seen before and definitely worth a visit! me and my flatmate are both veggies so opted for the Festive Vegan udon ✨ which is udon noodles with roast pumpkin in a rich soup with stuffing balls, pickled red cabbage, brussel sprout leaves and cranberry now I know what you are thinking - this is an odd combo … but it worked!!! The flavour of the cranberry really bought an amazing sweetness to the dish and the roast pumpkin was cooked perfectly! I am an absolute sucker for a good sprout and they came in this shredded (which is the best way to have them imo) and essentially acted like a cabbage which you normally get in noodle soho-based dishes! One of the best things about @marugameuk is their complimentary condiments station where you can go wild on all the toppings - garlic, spring onion, chilli, soy sauce, ginger, sesame etc and the best bit is the crispy tempura bits 🤤 the noodles are the star of the show here - so chewy and thick and portion sizes are not stingy!!! Also part of their festive specials is an addition to their tempura station where you can pick up sides of various tempura veggies, gyozas and more - so we chose the tempura sprouts… unfortunately these did not do it for us, sprouts have to be cooked the right way and these were boiled before being fried so they were quite mushy under the batter 🫠 also could have done with a bit of extra seasoning!! However, I can vouch that their other tempura items which I’ve tried on a previous visit are so good!! and last but not least - for a vegan (and unlimited) dessert we have Gingerbread Vegan Ice Cream 🍦 which is so fun you get to serve yourself!! This was so refreshing and really balanced flavour of sweet gingery spice! It made for a really nice pallet cleanser at the end of the meal! highly recommend checking out @marugameuk for an easy grab n go dinner spot - sooooo affordable as well!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
