The Baos Are Back In Town, Better Than Ever!

I live in Tooting, so I was jumping up and down when this Hype experience became available for review. You see, I was already a fan of Daddy Bao. Why?

Well, the truth is that they do the best bao buns in London. Their baos are absolutely delicious. Every. Single. Time. Honestly, from the multiple times I've been I end up leaving happy, happy, super happy. Partly it's also because their service is top notch. And one might think it's because you came to review the place, but service has always been top notch. Every. Single. Time. No matter who the customer is, the servers always go above and beyond. I really missed Daddy Bao loads because they were closed during most of the quarantine. And going to Daddy Bao is not only about the food, it is a 360 experience! So on this visit, I decided to be a little bit more daring and try a lot more things than I normally do, starting by the booze. I felt like beer and there are so many imported beers and just generally fun beer options on the menu. They also do bangin cocktails though but I wasn't feeling like cocktails this day. The Peach & Lime Beer in the specials were amazing and then the Lychee home brew beer was definitely one-of-a-kind. It wasn't sweet at all, but had clearly a lychee twist to it. I thought it was super original. For food, I usually go for two baos per person and then lots of appetizers. For appetizets, we went for the pork dumplings which are always a must order, the sweet potatoe fries which have the perfect texture and the tenderstem broccoli special which was a nice veggie addition to the entrees. Of course, Edamames are always a must for me and the Daddy Bao sauce for edamames has a special twist that adds to why I really love this place. Last but not least, the baos are always the stars and as such usually come last. My +1 ordered the pork and beef brisket baos and I went for the tofu and shiitake baos, the vegan version. There's something about the sauces and the fried onions that makes it an explosive combination of flavors I always want to come back too! Worth noting they do vegan baos which is super important for me as a vegan given that baos are not usually vegan by default. And they do them from scratch! There are so many vegan starters as well, it's insane. Lastly, I also love the atmosphere of this place. There's always a great crowd and the decoration just kind of takes you to Taiwan. On this visit, they had a super cool 90s music playlist on that definitely was a topic of conversation in our table. Honestly, I'm now excited to maybe visit the Daddy Bao Peckham branch now just to check it out. All in all, I definitely know that I'll bao back very soon :)
