Delicious Doughnuts Delivered!
Although I have more of a savoury than sweet tooth, sometimes only sweet will do! Step forward Planet Doughnut, with over 60 flavours available across their three stores in Shrewsbury, Chester and Telford. For those of us a little further field, they now do nationwide delivery of boxes of doughnuts - that’s my kind of six pack!
It was a tough choice between the Mixed or the Vegan boxes as I loved the look of the Jammie Dodger and Caramel Brownie doughnuts in the latter. However, the Terry’s Choc Orange was the decider so the Mixed it was! The full contents of the Mixed Box were: - Twirl - Terry’s Choc Orange - Lotus Biscoff - The Homer - Strawberry & Cream Hershey’s - Planet D Party My box was safely delivered by DPD and the sight of the teal box with “Doughnut you want me baby?” brought a big smile to my face. I’d wondered whether the doughnuts were going to arrive intact, especially given all the toppings piled on. They were in great condition having been carefully double wrapped in paper and were held snugly in place by the internal cardboard packaging. I was also pleasantly surprised at how large each doughnut was, and that’s even before taking into account the generous toppings! As I soon found out, I could only manage half a doughnut at a time - which extended the very enjoyable taste testing. Eaten fresh, they were lovely and fluffy inside. I thought there was a good toppings to dough ratio! My favourites were those with whole chocolate bars and biscuits on top - the Terry’s Choc Orange was especially pretty with the little orange curls. The Twirl with a whole bar on top was a rich chocolatey treat. The Biscoff was gone very quickly with its salted caramel filling and crushed biscuit crumb. The doughnut that surprised me the most was the Planet D Party - I enjoyed the pretty purple fruits of the forest icing, and the iced biscuits on top brought back happy childhood memories. It’s also vegan, but I would never have been able to tell. Given the size and quality of the doughnuts, plus free UK shipping, these are great value for money and would make fab gifts. Check out their other boxes, such as DIY kits that come with icing and toppings for you to get creative! I hope that eventually some of the other flavours they offer in their stores and stockists will become available for delivery, such as Nutella Hobnob, Tiramisu, Mighty Churro and Raspberry & Mango.
