Rubens Hotel: An Afternoon Tea fit for for royalty! 👑 🥂
Can you think of a more perfect place to enjoy Afternoon Tea than overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace? 🏰
From the moment you step into the beautifully restored five-star historical hotel it is clear to see the staff take extra special care of their guests. The red-uniformed doorman welcomed us in, followed by friendly smiles from Jorge and Maisy who took our coats and bags. ❤ We were then greeted by Tsveti, our wonderful waitress. She took us to our table in the Palace Lounge and talked us through the variety of teas she had to offer. Each tea had an interesting story behind them. As we sipped our tea I couldn't help but take in the stunning surroundings. Rich red velvets, embroidered furnishings and a colour palette of red and gold which created a warm, regal ambience. 🫖 Tsveti presented us with a parade of perfectly prepared sandwiches, decorated with scattered nuts. We were treated to traditional scones and also honey & white chocolate ones. The white chocolate ones were the best scones I've ever tasted. The pastries were exceptional. The pastry kitchen at Rubens is led by the extremely talented Sarah Houghting who appeared on the new series of the Bake Off: The Professionals. Each pastry pays tribute to members of the Royal family. And the detail was exquisite. My personal highlights was the Seasonal Rubens Éclair and Fruit from the Queen's Orchard. 🍎 I recommend adding a little sparkle to your Afternoon Tea and ordering a glass or two of their Lanson Champagne. 🥂 We then headed over to the New York bar where we were looked after by the lovely Salvatore. Vince, the friendly and passionate hotel manager came over to say hi. He let us know about all of the exciting experiences the hotel has to offer.
